INDIA PAYS TRIBUTE TO KARGIL HEROES ON 26TH KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS

On the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh led the nation in paying solemn tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.

Observed annually on July 26, Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil conflict. The Indian Army had announced the successful completion of “Operation Vijay” on this day in 1999, marking the end of nearly three months of intense combat in the icy heights of Kargil, Ladakh.

President Droupadi Murmu: A Day of Courage and Sacrifice

President Murmu, in a post on social media platform X, hailed the day as a symbol of “extraordinary valour, courage, and steadfast determination” of Indian Jawans.

“On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay my heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. Their dedication and supreme sacrifice for the nation will forever inspire its citizens,” she wrote in Hindi, concluding with “Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!”

PM Narendra Modi: A Reminder of Unparalleled Courage

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to the Kargil heroes, highlighting the unwavering spirit and patriotism of the armed forces.

“This occasion reminds the country of the unparalleled courage and valour of our soldiers, who gave their lives defending the nation’s pride. Their spirit will continue to inspire every generation,” he said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh: India Forever Indebted

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed the sentiments in his message, stating:

“On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay heartfelt tributes to our bravehearts who displayed extraordinary courage, grit and determination in defending our nation’s honour in the toughest of terrains. Their supreme sacrifice is a timeless reminder of the unwavering resolve of our Armed Forces. India shall remain forever indebted to their service.”
