Days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent US visit, former US President and Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump had announced that he would meet Modi during his visit , but that meeting did not happen.
PM Modi’s 55 hours trip was packed with different activities while Trump was busy campaigning for an election six weeks away.
Modi was busy with the Quad summit on Saturday and Monday was taken up by his address at the UN.
On Sunday Modi addressed the Indian diaspora in a New York suburb. He had some time later in the day for meetings but Trump was busy away in North Carolina holding his own campaign rally. So the meeting Trump wished for did not happen as it was also a matter of timing. Prime Minister Modi wrapped up his three -day US visit on Monday and he is likely to reach India on Tuesday.
