13 PASSENGERS KILLED AFTER BEING HIT BY TRAIN IN MAHARASHTRA

A train accident has taken place in the Jalgaon district of Maharashtra on Wednesday evening where around 13 passengers on the Pushpak Express, fearing a fire, jump off the train, which tragically led to them being hit by the passing Karnataka Express.

As per sources, the accident took place at around 5 pm near Pachora between Maheji and Pardhane stations. The deceased passengers were mostly from the general compartment.

The railway officials and the emergency staff responded quickly to the scene.

Maharashtra Minister Gulabrao Patil confirmed that rumours of fire were fake, as the authorities verified no fire had occurred.

Meanwhile, the Railway Board has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1.5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased, Rs 50,000 for grievous wounds and Rs 5,000 for simple injuries. On the other hand, the local authorities are also assisting the victims.
