August 7, 2024: What was to be a golden day for India turned out to be heartbreak within minutes. Creating history Vinesh Phogat entered the final of 50kg freestyle wrestling category in Paris Olympics 2024 but she got disqualified due to overweight at last.
On day 2 of her weigh-in, Vinesh was found weighing over the desired limit. Vinesh reportedly tried to do everything she could to come under the desired weight and the Indian officials also asked the Olympic committee for more time but the efforts went in vain.
As a result of disqualification, Vinesh will not win any medal in Paris Olympics and would return home empty -handed.

Before the Olympics, Vinesh experienced a tumultuous journey and had to face many challanges, including protesting against the national wrestling federation chief, confrontation with police and undergoing a knee surgery. And she had to face severe criticism from various quarters. However, a determined, Vinesh bounced back and reached the Olympics like before. But that was that. The dreams of Vinesh and that of the 1.4 billion Indians shattered this morning.
